Morrow showed terrific energy and inspiration with her role and is a worthy character actress. She portrays a perfect scream queen.

Basement Jack can be enjoyed by those who like the classic slashers from the 70s-80s. To release very shortly Basement Jack is worth a watch for the entertainment factor alone.

Tortured Soul Asylum

This is a great slasher type horror film that will keep any fan of the genre pleased. There is only one more thing to say, “Long Live Basement Jack!”

I mean, it’s just been way too long since we had an old-school slasher flick set during a thunderstorm. It’s got a great atmosphere and it’s a perfect horror flick to watch on a rainy night.

Horror Movie A Day

We also have a final girl who is vulnerable yet tough right from the start. It’s not a problem for me, but when you think about it, most final girls suddenly become resilient only after all their friends are killed, so it’s kind of cool to have this almost sort of Sarah Connor-y type face a slasher, sort of hunting him throughout the film.

Fatally Yours

Michele Morrow put in a lot of talent and energy into the character of Karen and made her very relatable to the audience…Overall, I found Basement Jack to be a highly entertaining throwback to the ‘80s slashers we all hold dear.

Says O’Toole of Michele’s stunt training:

“Our lead actress Michele Morrow was the ultimate trooper. She studied with our Stunt Coordinator, Jeri Kalvan, for the knife fights and came out looking like a champ.”

One of our favorite horror movie reviewers, Mr. Horror, (seriously, this guy is always dead on) gave Michele’s performance in BASEMENT JACK some very high compliments:

Karen Cook (Michele Morrow) is not the dumb, bubbly, idiotic, obnoxious, and hyper-annoying anglo girl we’re used to seeing in most run-of-the-mill indie slasher pictures.  She’s witty and sarcastic in her own way, yet at the same time scared because Jack is hot on her heels to finish what he started. But she doesn’t wear her fear on her sleeve. And she’s also really effing brave, which is shown firsthand in one of the movie’s premier moments where she meets Jack at his favorite stomping grounds, and the two have an epic battle. One of three scenes which add a high element of suspense, action, and intensity to the movie. I think with a few more chunks of cash, this picture could’ve been tightened up enough to possible be a studio release, and the possible beginning of a new slasher series. It’s that good!
